An unsigned "Nebula Splash" steals the cover — who drew it?

Dear reader, This week the tide brought us 613 new fish from 33 artists, and somewhere in that swirl, an unsigned masterpiece called "Nebula Splash" drifted to the top with a community rating of 85 — painted by a mystery hand that never logged in. Elsewhere, "Lagoon" pulled double duty as both a crowd favorite and, at a hefty 400 grams, the heaviest catch of the week. Pour yourself something warm and dive in; the deep end is full of surprises this issue.

“Say hello to Nebula Splash, our spectacular cover star for the week! We were completely swept away by the magical pointillist style, beautifully blending vibrant red and deep blue speckles into a cosmic silhouette. This tiny aquatic galaxy is sure to leave you starry-eyed.”

Most BeautifulStamp 1 of 5 · “Nebula Splash” by Anonymous

“"Nebula Splash" arrived without a signature, but beauty needs no byline — it carries itself like starlight poured into water. Whoever you are, mysterious artist, the reef thanks you.”

Most CreativeStamp 2 of 5 · “Moobell” by Sophia Burns

“Sophia Burns's "Moobell" is the kind of idea that makes this chair sit up straight — a name and a notion I have never encountered in all my dives. Gloriously strange, and the reef is richer for it.”

CutestStamp 3 of 5 · “Lagoon” by Zari Hakim

“Zari Hakim's "Lagoon" may be the heaviest fish of the week at 400 grams, but it wears all that heft with irresistible charm. Proof that cute comes in every size.”

FunniestStamp 4 of 5 · “Bartolo el Impostor” by Anonymous

“"Bartolo el Impostor" — the name alone had me wheezing bubbles, and the fish delivers on the promise. To the anonymous artist behind the disguise: we are laughing with your fish, and loudly.”

Hidden GemStamp 5 of 5 · “Mochi” by Sahar Pineda

“Among 613 new arrivals, Sahar Pineda's "Mochi" could easily have slipped past unnoticed — but quiet work rewards a careful eye. Filed with pleasure in the archive of things worth a second look.”
